Federica Patti

Federica Patti is an independent curator, lecturer and art critic. Her research focuses on contemporary experimental art movements, with a particular interest in multimedia, live media, emerging artists, interactive and participatory projects.
Recently winner of the ninth edition of the Italian Council, with the project “On Posthuman Performativity. For a cross disciplinary definition of live media performance” supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism under the Italia Council program (2020), she actively collaborates with several institutions, galleries and festivals (MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna Bologna, CUBO – Centro Unipol Bologna, Romaeuropa Festival among others) on the presentation and development of her research topics curating exhibitions, screening, talks and workshop. Recently she has been nominated one of the tutors of the "Digital residences" project and invited to take part in the juries of numerous international New Media Art awards (the most recent: STARTS prize Piedmont, RE: Humanism 2021).

She is part of LaRete Art Projects curatorial collective and of IKT (International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art). Since 2013 she has been a frequent contributor for Artribune magazine and Creativeapplication.net.
She co-founded ROBOT, an international festival dedicated to digital arts and electronic music, running the call4roBOt open call, special projects and AV section. In 2016 she joined IKT (International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art). Since 2013 she is a frequent contributor for Artribune magazine, Creativeapplication.net and Digicult.

In 2010 she graduated at the University of Bologna Alma Mater Studiorum with a master thesis on interactivity in contemporary art. She worked as project manager for Ælia Media by Pablo Helguera in 2011 and joined the curatoral collective LaRete Art Projects. In 2012 she also worked as a production manager and contributed to the catalogue for the video show The Eye of the Collector at Arte Fiera Art First in Bologna. Together with Julia Draganović, she curated the exhibition and crowdfunding campaign Funding for Isola as the fourth chapter of LaRete Art Projects' long-term project Click or Clash? Strategies of Collaboration in Milan. In 2014 she co-curated TALK | SHOW, a cycle of talks at Galleria civica di Modena devoted to key themes of artistic practices today: space. The same year she also curated the first international artist in residence project for digital art in Bologna with Icaro Zorbar (CO) which included a workshop, performance and exhibition at MAMbo – Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna. Thanks to the Movin'Up grant, in November-December 2014 she was a curator-in-residence at IDARTES, Bogotà (CO) in order to develop the exchange project inside the UNESCO cities of music network and with the same aim, she participated to the ICI's Second Curatorial Intensive program in Bogotà (CO) in 2015.
